Ponds & Creek

Odeno has 3 main ponds, only 2 of which have been given formal names; Nbiish Pond and Ziibi pond. Nbiish Pond is the largest of all bodies of water at Odeno. All ponds are chemically treated and are only for viewing and enjoying from afar. Please respect all posted signage. Recreational 'catch-and-release' fishing is CURRENTLY permitted by residents and invited guests only.

The Odeno Association contracts with PLM Lake & Land Management Corp for all pond maintenance. Per PLM Odeno Ponds are "products to be used include restrictive herbicides such as Diquat, Aquathol K, Hydrothol 191, 2,4-D, Propeller and Renovate, as well as non-restrictive products such as copper sulfate, chelated copper, SeClear, GreenClean Liquid, PLM MD Pellets, Aquatic Dye and potentially new products approved by EGLE."  (Notice

All questions regarding treatment can be directed to PLM at Colton Risner, Assistant Pond Manager, 616-891-1294 ext. 2007

Nbiish Pond - Nbiish, meaning water in the Ojibwe dialect of the Algonquin langauge, is the largest of Odeno's maintained ponds. Four major walking paths meet here, a reflective meeting place for community members within Phase 1. Nbiish pond has 3 smaller overflow basins that help mitigate stormwater runoff into Stevens Creek.

Ziibi Pond - Somewhat of a misnomer, Ziibi Pond is named after the Objiwe word for 'river' and is the 2nd largest pond in Odeno. There are two smaller overflow basins attached to Ziibi Pond that that help mitigate stormwater runoff into Stevens Creek.

Pond - Pond is the 3rd and final maintained pond in Odeno. It is the smallest of the ponds and only has 1 additional overflow basin to help mitigate stormwater runoff into Stevens Creek.
